Community Hubs: Supporting Local Communities Across West Sussex

Since March 2024, our Chichester-based Vitale team has partnered with the Selsey Community Forum. We have helped to set up and run Help Hubs across the wider Manhood peninsula to ensure that support is more accessible to the local communities. These community hubs offer a solution to the challenges elderly individuals face, such as accessing essential services, combating isolation, and navigating later-life planning.

The Selsey Community Forum are a local charity that supports the community by identifying and meeting their local needs and offering various group and individual support.

What the Community Hubs offer

Practical Support Services:

Help to complete LPA forms, attendance allowance applications, Blue Badge applications, and other benefits.
Energy-saving advice and guidance on accessing energy support schemes.
Fall prevention advice and planning for care support needs.

Support for Families:

Assisting caregivers in navigating the complexities of arranging support for loved ones.
Offering guidance on available services and referrals.

Building Connections:

We collaborate with organisations like Age UK, social prescribers, and community wardens to expand access to local services.

Emotional Support:

Above all, we provide a listening ear over a cup of tea, reducing isolation and boosting the mental well-being of people who attend the community hubs.

The Community Hubs offer advice, support, and guidance mainly for the elderly. However, we can support anyone with other issues. We try to help with any query presented to us and will ensure service users are connected with those who can provide support if we are unable to do so.

Selsey Stroke Club

This sponsorship is part of our partnership with the team at the Selsey Community Form, which is, we believe, a blueprint for how communities can help each other.

Stroke rehabilitation with Vitale Care

Stroke survivors tell us that it can take a lot of effort and determination to keep going with rehabilitation. Having a dedicated Care Professional to support you in your rehabilitation journey can make a huge, positive difference to your progress. With a trusted Care Professional by your side, it is easier to practise regularly, and there’s someone to help you celebrate your improvement.

It can be hard work, physically and mentally, but many people find it helps them make vital progress with speaking, walking and other key skills.

Chichester Stroke Club

Vitale supports the Chichester Stroke Club and is helping with its campaign to gain new members. Daniel Ayton, Managing Director at Vitale commented, “The club is a fantastic, friendly environment full of positivity. Our team enjoy volunteering and joining in the singing. We’d encourage anyone who has had a stroke to contact the membership team at the club. At Vitale, we support many people who have had a stroke. We believe that membership can be a real help to those on a stroke rehabilitation journey.”

The Stroke Club membership campaign includes connecting with social prescribers, medical practices and other healthcare professionals to promote the club and its benefits to stroke survivors and their loved ones.

Membership to the club is £10 a year and then £3 subs for each meeting. This pays for the tea and the hire of the Newell Centre.

Chichester Festival Theatre Buddy Scheme

This free companion service is available to help you feel comfortable and supported during your trips to the theatre.

CFT Buddies are friendly, trained volunteers passionate about sharing their love for theatre. Anyone can request a Buddy, but it can be beneficial for:

People with physical access needs or those with visual and/or hearing impairments who could use assistance before and during the show
Elderly and/or socially isolated individuals
Autistic, neurodivergent and/or people with a learning disability
Anyone anxious about coming to the Theatre alone

To request a Buddy, you simply need to contact the CFT box office. Let them know what you’d like to see and the date you’d like to attend. The box office team will check availability for the show and reserve two tickets, one for you and one for the Buddy. You only pay for your ticket (our sponsorship covers the Buddy’s ticket cost).
