Flexible Home Care - Is it time for a spring clean?

Nicola Munday, Registered Care Manager

The daffodils are just beginning to pop up in and around Chichester, which can mean only one thing: Spring is finally on the way! Spring is traditionally a season of renewal, making it the perfect time to refresh your care plan and home environment. At Vitale, we are committed to flexible home care tailored to your needs. So, now is a great time to chat about how these might change and how we can adjust to suit you.

Flexible Home Care – Is it time for a spring clean?

Vitale’s Commitment to Flexible Home Care

Spring is a great time to reassess your care needs and make adjustments. Care should evolve with your needs. That might mean more support, different routines, or added safety measures.

If you or your loved one has been lonely over winter, step into spring with more companionship. We can offer live-in support in and around the Chichester area if you have a spare bedroom. Live-in care is an excellent alternative to residential care (care in a care home). The costs are lower, but, more importantly, live-in care allows you to stay in your home, surrounded by familiar surroundings and happy memories. Other ways we can help you spring-clean your care requirements:

Medicines and Health:

Ask your Care Professional to check for expired or no longer needed medications.

Has your routine or health needs changed? If your mealtimes have changed, you may need to adapt the times you take your medication. Discuss any changes with your Care Professional.

Seasonal changes can affect your health. If you have hay fever or allergies, they might flare up in spring, so talk to your Care Professional if you need to arrange a doctor’s visit or take over-the-counter medicines.

Moving into Spring:

Spring cleaning can include assessing any mobility aids that you use. Your Care Professional can inspect walkers, walking sticks, and wheelchairs for signs of winter wear. If they need replacement, we can help you organise this.

Home Safety Measures:

Heaters, extra rugs, and bulky winter clothes can create clutter and trip hazards. Once we’ve seen the last frost, your Care Professional can help you clear the clutter so your home stays safe and hazard-free!

Spring is also a great time to test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, as the batteries may need replacing after winter.

As the sun shines, you’ll probably want to venture outside more. Your Care Professional can help ensure porches, garden paths, and patios are clear and safe for springtime use. If your mobility needs have changed and you need more support or grab rails around the outside of your home, we can help you organise the installation.
